History:
XRX 1, built for "Pip" Arnold in 1962, is the sister car to TOK 258 (class winner at Le Mans 1962) and was part of the Lawrencetune/Morgan works team.
Pip Arnold was a semi-professional driver alongside Chris Lawrence and Richard Shepherd-Barron.
The team competed in the 1963 World championship for GT cars, their main rivals in class being Porsche. At Spa, XRX1 was 2nd in class (and 10th overall) behind Chris Lawrence in 1st place. At the Nurburgring 1000km, co-driven by Robert Carnegie, XRX1 led most of the race but lost the lead after stopping to fix a loose hardtop - it was still placed 2nd behind the Morgan of Hugh Braithwaite and Rob Slotenmaker.
In the intervening years XRX1 spent time in South Africa, Germany & the UK. Morgans.
Preparation:
Over 2005/2006 Brett did a full ground-up restoration to FIA spec.
Drivers:
Gabriel Kremer did a little production saloon car racing in Rhodesia in 1958/59 at club level. Following a gap of 45 years with no motorsport, he restarted with a Morgan +4 in 2004. He lives in Switzerland.
Dion Kremer, Gabriel's son, was a newcomer to motorsport in 2004, since when it has been father & son co-driving in mini endurance events on European & UK circuits. He lives in London.
